The microwave itself is working fine. My big problem is that we cannot see the controls. They don't light up like my ovens and even with great light they are really, really dark. I would never buy this product again because of that. My 21 year old niece can't see it, so it has nothing to do with age. People, including my niece, have told me that the control area must illuminate, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to do it. I don't think it does. I think it is a huge design flaw. Oddly no where do you read this, but you need to use an amonia free cleaner on the plastic slate colored parts or end up with marred appearance. 6 months in and has developed a vibration noise like a piece of metal or screw is loose somewhere. Came with a flaw in th door glass. They replaced it. Now the unit seems to make a vibration like a pice of metal or a screw is loose inside. My 4th GE microwave in 14 years. This is one of the better microwaves I have owned. I love most of the features, some I don't need but nice to have. The interior is easy to clean and looks very pleasing. The color is perfect and I really like the display, easy to read. However the push pad is sometimes difficult to activate. Our old faithful over the oven microwave started to shoot sparks. I started shopping and decided i needed a 1100 watt to replace a the old one. I ended up getting this model. I have been pleased with its cooking programs. The one thing which has been unbelievably difficult to adjust to is the silent 30 second button and other functions that I expect to start on their own or signal me that I have successfully started a function. This microwave is just awesome. I have never had a microwave to perform like this GE has performed in the past. I pop alot of popcorn and the built in timer pops 99% of the kernals in the bag. I bought this instore on sale as it would match other GE appliances I had. The microwave sure looks good but there are a few cons. It was quite difficult to install with two people. It does not vent as well as I thought it would. It claims 400 CFM but my old microwave was 200 CFM and they seem to vent the same. The microwave vent design is just not that powerful. This is a replacement for a 7 year old GE Microwave that needed to be replaced because the magnatron literally burned up with acrid smoke filling up the house. Not repairable due to cost factor.
