Excellent Machine

We love our BOSCH 800 Series dishwasher. We have not yet used all the features and we do have to work around some condensation if we don't unload it close to the finishing time of the cycle but this machine cleans well and is an excellent energy saver. We are very happy with this purchase and would consider a BOSCH for out next purchase.

Bottom basket broke terrible customer service

Not one year into use of the brand new appliance the lower basket broke . The metal seems to have snapped and so the basket would no longer stay on the tracks and the dishwasher could not be run. What's worse is that 9 months of trying to get it replaced (by either asking under the warranty or buying a new one) have been unsuccessful. The dishwasher has been unusable.

We purchased two of these dishwashers for a new house we were building with an in-law apartment. After two years one of the dishwashers stopped working completely. We were told the electric components were covered under warranty and that we needed to use one of Bosch's authorized service providers in our area. We paid an initial diagnostic service fee to the provider and over a period of two months the authorized service rep replaced both the control panel and control module, but the dishwasher still didn't work. They then replaced the water valve, but it would start and then an error code shows within a minute. At this point the repair technician said there was nothing else he could do. We called Bosch again and asked if they would replace the dishwasher since the electric components were still under warranty. After providing all of the necessary paperwork we were told they would not replace the dishwasher, but could "pro-rate" a new one if we bought it from them. However they would not tell us how much they would pro-rate a new one because it apparently depends on which new one we were going to purchase (no idea why). So we gave them several comparable model numbers that we could buy, but all of them are on backorder for at least 2-3 months. So at this point it will be 5-6 months before we can get a dishwasher, that may be discounted by some unknown amount. We then asked if we found one that was in stock locally and we bought it if they would refund us the pro-rated amount, but they said they would not do that. We have called Bosch no less than a dozen times, been without a dishwasher for months, and this is where we are at. Most times it took more than 30 minutes just to get a represenatative on the line. It has been a dissapointing experience to say the least, and it is unfortunate that Bosch will not stand behind its product.

Quiet dishwasher that gets my dishes CLEAN

I have enjoyed using this dishwasher. It has done a very good job of getting dishes clean. The glasses are noticeably cleaner than they were from the previous (non-Bosch) dishwasher. The third try probably fills up the fastest as there are so many things that appropriately go there. I am able to get more dishes in this unit than I could with our previous unit. After a couple months use, we are pleased with the purchase.

Bottom rack falls down

First of all, the dishwasher is very quiet as advertised. That is the positive and for the first 6 months or so were quite happy. We've had this dishwasher for about 3 years now and have run into 2 issues. The biggest one is that the bottom rack is poorly designed with regards to width tolerance. After about 6 months of use, the botttom rack loses some of its stiffness which allows it to sag and so the total width of the rack shrinks. The rollers which don't have a lot of contact with the sides to begin with no longer make full contact and one side will fall down and block the water sprayer below from spinning. The only thing you can do is load the bottom rack ~30-40% full so this doesn't happen. We do have heavier dishes (Le Creuset) but never had a problem with the Kitchen Aid we had prior to buying this one. We called service and he came out and said it's a fairly common complaint (you will also find others on the web with the same issue). The only thing he could do was provide us a new rack which worked fine for about 5 months before happening again. He did tell us that there is a weight limit for the rack but I pulled out my scale and showed it couldn't meet that limit without falling down. Since we are now out of warranty, the only thing we can do is partially load the bottom which negates any energy saving it advertises. To me this is a showstopper from ever buying Bosch again. The other issue we have run into is that the paint on the buttonless pads has mostly worn away. I know the button on the left will set it to auto mode and the button on the right will start it. Other than that, I really can't select any of the options unless I want to pull out the manual and find their placement. The last thing to note is like most everyone else, glass tops and tupperware do not dry well. I find that a minor inconvenience.
