Bosch 800 Dishwasher

A nice, quiet machine but the silversare tray on the top level is about the most ridiculous waste of space ever. And who wants to take the time to line up each piece of silverware and put it in there. It all takes waaaay too long and is unnecessary ---and it takes up space! What idiot invented this stupid feature? My friends and I say they'll never use it.

Why did we wait this long?

We'd given up on dishwashers for a decade. But in a COVID-fueled home improvement frenzy we installed one late this summer. Lots of research led us to Bosch, and availability brought us to the 800 series with crystal dry. Coincidentally, our son and his wife had just moved into a new home with the same model and raved about it. We picked it up and installed it ourselves, and except for some plumbing issues related to our old dishwasher, it was straightforward and simple (I'm a 76-year-old DIYer). This machine is great. Just the two of us, so we're good for 2-3 days between washings. But the dishes come out sparkling. It's great to have the extra heat when we're concerned about virus. It looks great. And it's incredibly quiet (42db, whatever db are). So now our only question is: Why did we wait this long?

Very quiet

The dishwasher does an excellent job of cleaning the dishes and silverware. You have to keep an eye on the red light to make sure it's running. It's so quiet. I would have liked a green light indicator to show it's completed the cycle and is finished. The 3rd. shelf works great for additional silverware and long items. It gets a little smelly even when the filter is clean. We leave the door ajar to help get rid of the smell. But overall very good.
